Who we are
Our website address is: https://www.shannonsgrotto.com. Run by Shannon LeMmon. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or send a message by using the message button in the right hand corner of the page.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
We have two types of contact forms. For simple email correspondence, we use the Highend Contact form that is part of our theme. If you click the small envelope in the lower-right corner of the screen, you can send us a quick email. Your name and email address are only used to send us your message. We only reply to answer your questions and never send you unsolicited email. We never use your name or email for any other purpose. We retain all email correspondence in a permanent archive for legal purposes.
We also use Mailer Lite so you can sign up to receive our periodic newsletter or other relevant content via email. This is done by completing the popup dialog that appears about 30 seconds after you start to view one of our pages. We only use your contact information to send you the email that you sign up to receive. Each email includes an unsubscribe link, so you can opt-out of future email. When you opt-out, your contact information is removed from our email list. No permanent record is kept of your contact information.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
When you view our site on a mobile device, a cookie is stored for 3.5 days to remember whether to view the mobile version of the content.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
The IP address of visitors, user ID of logged in users, and username of login attempts are conditionally logged to check for malicious activity and to protect our site from specific kinds of attacks. Examples of conditions when logging occurs include login attempts, log out requests, requests for suspicious URLs, changes to site content, and password updates. This information is retained for 14 days.
Who we share your data with
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To request an export, please send an email to email@example.com and provide the email address for which you would like an export. We will email the export to that email address.
Your contact information
If you have any questions about our data privacy, please contact us by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
How we protect your data
The privacy of your data is very important to us. We make every reasonable effort to protect our site and your data from accidental or unlawful access, or loss.
How our site is protected
We use anti-spam plug-ins to guard our site against brute force login attacks, spam, and harmful malware injections, which monitors login activity and blocks fraudulent attempts. To do this, the following information is used: attempting user’s IP address, attempting user’s email login address/username, and all IP-related HTTP headers attached to the attempting user. A cookie is set for 1 day to remember if/when a user has successfully completed a math captcha to prove that they’re a real human.
